Analyzing the Impact of Integrating Pseudolite Observables into a GPSÕINS System

چکیده
This paper deals with the issue of incorporating pseudolite measurements into an integrated Global Positioning System/ Inertial Navigation System ~GPS/INS! positioning and attitude system with a view to improving signal availability, solution reliability, and accuracy in a localized area. Existing GPS/INS systems can overcome inherent shortcomings of each of the navigation technologies ~line-of-sight signal requirement for GPS and INS errors that grow with time!; therefore, such systems are now used for a wide variety of land, sea, and airborne applications where accurate positioning and/or attitude information is required with high output rate. However, their performance can still be degraded under certain conditions, such as when the duration of satellite signal blockage exceeds a certain time period ~related to the quality of the INS!, resulting in large accumulated INS errors. Such a scenario is a common occurrence for many kinematic applications. In an integrated GPS/Pseudolite/INS scheme, in order to gain the maximum benefit from additional pseudolite measurements, it is necessary to investigate how pseudolites can best be deployed to complement an existing GPS/INS system. A series of simulations, as well as field experiments with a GPS/Pseudolite/INS system comprising a NovAtel Millennium GPS receiver, an IntegriNautics IN200 pseudolite, and a MIGITS strapdown INS, were carried out, and the impact on performance of integrating pseudolite~s! has been assessed for a variety of operational conditions and different system configurations. The results indicate that the overall performance of the system can indeed be significantly improved using additional pseudolite measurements. DOI: 10.1061/~ASCE!0733-9453~2004!130:2~95! New Approach for Customer Clustering by Integrating the LRFM Model and Fuzzy Inference System
This study aimed at providing a systematic method to analyze the characteristics of customers’ purchasing behavior in order to improve the performance of customer relationship management system. For this purpose, the improved model of LRFM (including Length, Recency, Frequency, and Monetary indices) was utilized which is now a more common model than the basic RFM model apt for analyzing the cus...
متن کاملModeling and Geometry Design for Pseudolite Augmented Airborne DGPS
Carrier phase DGPS systems have been increasingly used in airborne surveying. However, the accuracy and availability of GPS positioning cannot meet the stringent requirements of large-scale photogrammetry. Groundbased pseudolites can strengthen the measurement geometry for airborne GPS systems, and improve ambiguity resolution. As a result, positioning accuracy and reliability can be improved, ...
متن کاملStand-Alone and Hybrid Positioning Using Asynchronous Pseudolites
global navigation satellite system (GNSS) receivers are usually unable to achieve satisfactory performance in difficult environments, such as open-pit mines, urban canyons and indoors. Pseudolites have the potential to extend GNSS usage and significantly improve receiver performance in such environments by providing additional navigation signals. This also applies to asynchronous pseudolite sys...
متن کاملINTEGRATION OF GPS AND PSEUDOLITE FOR SEAMLESS POSITIONING : Fundamental Verification Experiment and Results
The Global Positioning System, GPS technology has been widely used in positioning and attitude determination. It is well known that the accuracy, availability and reliability of the positioning results are heavily dependent on the number and geometric distribution of tracked GPS satellites. Because of this limitation, in some situations, such as in urban canyons, underground space or inside of ...
متن کاملThe Performance of a Pseudolite-Based Positioning System for Deformation Monitoring
There are three general scenarios for the use of pseudolites in deformation monitoring systems; namely GPS augmented with pseudolites, pseudolite-only and pseudolite ‘inverted’ positioning. This paper focuses on the results and analysis of experimental data collected for these three pseudolite scenarios. The results suggest that the use of helical antennas can reduce pseudolite multipath error....
